The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
